Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy Apprenticeship Program
IIT’s mission of sharing knowledge and educating the next generation of ketamine assisted practitioners is now accessible through a training program we call IIT KAP-AP (Institute for Integrative Therapies Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy Apprenticeship Program).
IIT KAP-AP is a comprehensive educational program consisting of a full day orientation that includes didactic learning and interactive small group breakout sessions. Additionally, through the program, each apprentice will have access to weekly case consultation meetings that include IIT Medical and Therapy Staff Leadership, two individual consultations with IIT leadership during the first 8 weeks of the apprenticeship, four 90 minute didactic/consultation groups (biweekly) over 8 weeks, and shadowing IIT Medical and Therapy staff to learn preparation therapy, ketamine medicine therapy, and integration therapy. Apprentices go through the program in a cohort model to enhance support and learning as well as to build a community of providers engaging in psychedelic assisted psychotherapy.
An optional experiential ketamine session will be offered to those that are assessed to be medically appropriate.
IIT KAP-AP will help prepare the learner in the fundamentals of ketamine as a change agent. This will include learning ketamine’s mechanisms of action in the brain leading to neuroplasticity, safely delivering KAP, as well as the underpinnings of general psychedelic research.
Ultimately, IIT’s goal is to equip each learner with a solid foundation of learning through experience to become comfortable being a KAP therapist, serving with expertise, integrity and the highest of ethics. We hope that those who learn with us will go out and serve their communities.
